East Midlands Railway signs National Rail Contract

East Midlands Railway has this week signed a National Rail Contract (NRC) with the Secretary of State for Transport.

The NRC provides greater stability and certainty for EMR, as it ends the Emergency Recovery Measures Agreement (ERMA) and commences a new contract which will last up to eight years, from 16 October 2022 to 16 October 2030.

The new contract also gives EMR a clearer picture of how performance against objectives will be measured and how these align with their annual business plan.

EMR colleagues have been reassured that following signing of the NRC they can continue with their great work for the customer.

The signing comes after Greater Anglia and West Midlands Trains also agreed NRCs with the Department for Transport. This now puts Abellio’s DfT rail businesses onto a stable contract position.
